This is the website of the Whitsunday Wookies

We are the only Queensland team to have participated in the Outback Air Race.

The Outback Air Race raises funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS).

Although we have not been on every race, when we have it's been a great way to see Australia and raise money for the RFDS.

So why not visit the Outback Air Race website as well and hopefully make a donation to support our fund raising drive. Just let them know you are supporting the Whitsunday Wookies.

Our race history:

1998 - 28th overall, we had a minor accident with the aircraft so had to leave it in Kununurra. Up to that point in time we were in 3rd place overall. Thanks to Phil and Maude who let me fly their PA28 for the last leg of the race so we did complete the race.

2000 - 1st place. After not completing the 1998 in the aircraft we started, we went back to a least complete the race in the aircraft we started in. Little did we know we would end up winning by 1.5 seconds.

2001 - 1st place. So it's back to see if the 2000 race was a fluke and it was 1 second that separated us from Farcarwees. First time the race had been to the Whitsundays so great to see it coming back again.

After missing the 2003 and 2006, this year as the race finishes at our home airport we decided it was time to do it again.

So it will be good to catch up with a lot of our friends from previous Outback Air Races and hopefully make some new friends.

Some of the places on the race route we have been to before but it will be interesting to go back again.

Some of the places we have not visited and have been on our to do list so we are looking forward to them as well.
