Ross

An Air Traffic Controller for >30 years, it was only after I had been at Tamworth for 4 years that I started learning to fly in 1988.

I currently have about 1000 hours in my log book, about 600 of them flying VH-AEF

Since getting my Unrestricted pilots licence in 1990, I've flown anything that I had the oportunity to. Although some of these may have only been for a couple of circuits it's all been great fun.

I have a MECIR but it's no longer current. As a private pilot I found it's almost impossible to keep current and who want's to fly in IMC in tropical thunderstorms anyway.

Having worked as an Air Traffic Controller for most of my adult life it's now time to enjoy my passions in life, spending time with my partner Belinda, my photography, our F100 4wd and camper and travelling Australia.

The photo, well it was cold and windy at Bunbury for the start of the 2000 Outback Air Race.

If you look at the video clips and the press cuttings you will see I had no hair (well a little) when we arrived back at the end of the race. Thanks to a certain Western Australian wheat farmer who started the ball rolling at Wave Rock, I shaved my head to raise money for the RFDS and no I'm not doing it again.

It's

to retirement and we are both looking forward to it.
